Public transport should be free

Some people think that public transport should be free, especially in big cities. Do you think public transport will have more advantages or disadvantages?

Model Solution

While some believe that the minimum age for driving a vehicle should be 18 years old, others argue that the minimum age should be higher, at 25. In this essay, I will examine both sides of the argument and explain why I believe the legal driving age should remain at 18 years old.

On the one hand, free public transportation would encourage people to use it more often, thus reducing the number of cars on the road, which would decrease traffic congestion and air pollution. Additionally, making public transportation free would make it more accessible to low-income earners, who might not be able to afford transportation costs.

On the other hand, free public transportation would be a burden on government budgets, as it would require significant funding. This could lead to an increase in taxes or other forms of revenue generation to cover the costs of public transportation. Furthermore, if public transportation were free, it might not be as well-maintained or equipped as paid services.

Conclusion: While free public transportation might seem like a good idea, I believe that it would ultimately have more disadvantages than advantages. Instead, governments should focus on making public transportation more affordable and efficient, as well as promoting its use through incentives such as discounts for frequent riders. This approach would be a more sustainable and equitable solution to urban transportation challenges.
