Many people have welcomed the move of the government to ban PUBG with the hope that it would allow kids to concentrate more on studies and productive activities. While another section of society is concerned that it may harm the mental health of children. This essay will discuss both arguments.

First of all, banning PUBG is an appreciable move. It has been in demand for a long. Many children were addicted to it and further indulged in immoral and illegal activities such as transferring money from their parents’ accounts to buy goodies in the game. Many parents lost their years of savings. Secondly, youngsters were spending hours and hours on the game, which also affected their studies and grade. Hence, it is a positive move.

However, on the other hand, it is also argued that PUBG has been turned into an addiction for numerous children. From the mental health point of view, it can have a negative impact on the health of the mind if one is not able to get the thing of addiction. Recently, the ban of another addictive app, TikTok, led many users to depression. Hence, this is a harsh move to suddenly ban the app.

Despite all the concerns and opinions, the matter of national security cannot be ignored, which was the main motive to ban the app. Hence, a more holistic approach was required, such as forcing the gaming company to store user data of the respective country in its own country itself.

In my opinion, there was no need to suddenly and completely ban the app. The government could have restricted access to the game during certain hours and gradually banned it completely. Data localisation was another better solution.
