Model Solution

Global warming is a critical issue facing our planet today, and there is much debate about who should be responsible for addressing it. Some argue that it is the responsibility of governments to take action, while others believe that individuals in society should take the lead. This essay will discuss both views and provide my own opinion.

Those who believe that governments should be responsible for addressing global warming argue that they have the power and resources to enact large-scale changes. Governments can create and enforce laws and regulations that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote sustainable energy production, and protect natural resources. They can also provide funding and incentives for companies and individuals to adopt more sustainable practices. For example, governments of many countries have incentivised electric car owners by waiving-off many types of taxes. Hence, the government should undertake this venture due to its authority and resource availability.

On the other hand, those who believe that individuals in society should be responsible argue that small actions can add up to make a big difference. Individual actions, such as reducing energy consumption, recycling, and using public transportation, can collectively have a significant impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, they argue that individuals can pressure governments and corporations to take action through activism and consumer choices.

In my opinion, both governments and individuals have a role to play in addressing global warming. Governments have a responsibility to create policies and regulations that promote sustainability and protect the environment, but individuals also have a responsibility to take personal action to reduce their environmental impact. It is not a question of one or the other but rather a joint effort that is needed.

In conclusion, global warming is a critical issue that requires action from both governments and individuals. Governments have a responsibility to create policies and regulations that promote sustainability and protect the environment, while individuals have a responsibility to take personal action to reduce their environmental impact.
