Some people believe that allowing children to make their own choices on everyday matters (such as food, clothes, and entertainment) is likely to result in a society of individuals who only think about their own wishes. Other people believe that it is important for children to make decisions about matters that affect them.

Some have argued that giving kids the flexibility to choose their daily chores will contribute to the emergence of a selfish society, while others contend that enabling kids to make choices that will impact their lives later in life is crucial. Personally, I concur with the latter because it will strengthen a person’s inner confidence and improve their whole demeanour.

One side of the argument holds that allowing a teenager to make their own decisions will have a negative effect on them and lead to a self-centred society. The reason is that if a person is permitted to have all of their wants met at a young age, there is a very high chance that they will be more stubborn and just worry about themselves. As a result, the region and the individuals who live there will not benefit from this. For instance, if a teenager feels the need to play loud music late at night without regard for the neighbors, this will disturb all students and elderly patients, which will cause issues with their own study schedules and sleeping patterns.

Others, including myself, firmly believe that children should be allowed to make their own decisions during critical life stages that will shape their future and inspire them to achieve their goals. The rationale behind this is that restricting and reprimanding a kid for going against their wishes will demotivate them and fill them with resentment and hatred, which will push them toward depression. They will be able to distinguish between right and wrong and, as a result, be able to make their own decisions that are positive for their future if they are given the correct guidance and education. For example, if a child is inspired to pursue their passion and ambition, they will ultimately become a better person.

In a nutshell, independence is essential, but only to the point where it won’t have a negative effect on the person. Children should, however, be mentored and educated to make better decisions for both the community and for themselves. Everyone ought to be free to choose their own path that will lead them to their objectives.
